Will Golf GPS Speed Up Golf?
In the old days (i.e. before Jack Nicklaus), folks played the game as a recreation not as much as a sport. You would carry your bag down the fairway, eye the shot, pull a club and fire away. It was a game of feel and not so much a game of ultimate accuracy. As with any game however, people soon became more concerned with score and comparing scores. Jack was one of the first touring pros to meticulously chart each course. He played for money and accuracy was money! So everyone joined in the fun; pros and amateurs alike started to take the game more seriously and marched off their distances. Today it is common; every course has 100 yard, 150 yard, and 200 yard markers in the fairway, or on the cart paths. Golfers pace off yardage like caddies to determine which club to select, and if you are an average golfer that becomes very difficult, since you tend to be off the fairway most of the time, and the markers are in the fairway. The new golf GPS can bring back the old days, and let you score your best.
Inexpensive golf GPS units can actually let you play faster than the player of old, who eyed his yardage. When you eye your yardage, you are guessing and guessing takes some time and talent. Using a golf GPS unit you never guess, you look down get front, back and center yardage and you hit the shot. You cannot get tricked by architectural feature, like a bunker set off the front of the green toward the player. A golf GPS rangefinder will give you exact distances, what your eye sees is irrelevant. A GPS rangefinder will keep you on the proper side of the pin. Most golfers come up short due to poor strikes, but big scores can come from being long where you are usually chipping down the hill. Coming up long is due to a properly struck shot with the wrong club. Golf GPS eliminates this problem almost completely. Knowing the back yardage of the green is crucial to low scores. A golf GPS gives you the back yardage and with high scores lurking behind most greens you pull a club that cannot go that far, generally leaving you in the middle, or on the front of the green.
Golf GPS units can be quite expensive, or very inexpensive. Some inexpensive models include Izzo Swami 1500, Sonocaddie V100 and the Bushnell Neo. I love information, so I have the new OnPar touch-screen golf GPS that gives you any information you need, or want. The OnPar GPS even tells you which club you should pull, it is very high tech, but it is for very serious golfers. The inexpensive golf GPS units mentioned above, are better for fast play, as they have few buttons and only essential features, such as front, back, center yardage and the shot measuring feature (to measure drive or shot distance). With these golf GPS units you will play faster than the old-time pro who eyeballed his target, because there is no guess work, no line of sight, just look and go. If a foursome, went out to walk a lightly crowded course and all carried golf GPS units they could finish in 3 hours. And the more popular the golf GPS unit becomes, the faster the game will move on all courses at all times and if you are like most golfers you will see your handicap go down 5 strokes. Not a bad deal!

Putting to Use Your GPS System
Things are way more problem-free when GPS devices come equipped with screens that flash a map showing the user’s precise location, what are the nearby landmarks around and how to get there. The only way that you can possibly get lost is when you waste your power supply for the GPS receiver!
Hot in pursuit of wild game, some hunters may eventually find themselves treading on unfamiliar ground. If the event is a multi-day outdoor event or excursion, the participants would definitely appreciate being able to see their current location daily on a GPS system receiver. With this very convenient tool, no one gets lost for long!
Hikers are a breed who claim the bragging right to never getting lost in the woods and even through treacherous rugged terrain. However, even this tough group of outdoorsmen can still benefit from plugging into the GPS system. What’s more, most small receivers meant for the hobbyist market carry the all-crucial feature of making contact with the outside in the event of an emergency. Injured hikers or some urgent matter can send an SOS message, with their exact coordinates to boot, to guide rescue parties.
New , cutting-edge model cars are beginning to throw in a new value added service: navigation aids and instructions courtesy of GPS devices. But even as you read this not only luxury cars, but the mainstream ones too, comes from the factory sporting a dashboard screen showing the vehicle’s spot on a map diagrammed on the screen. Simple functions can be voice activated in needed and naturally will show nearby points of interests on demand. These are great for the regular driver or a professional.
Every freeway surfer would like to skip traffic even for a day, and some professional drivers, like ambulance drivers, really have the most reasons in the world to steer clear of it. Advanced GPS systems for vehicles in selected locations are capable of receiving traffic data by way of satellite radio. And there cars equipped with GPS devices that can be monitored by police in case these are stolen.
Even agriculture has benefited a lot from the technology of mainstream and very common GPS. Large commercial farms work closely to reduce costs to ever smaller amounts in order to reap the most profit, and they do this with the help of precision agriculture. Remotely-controlled equipment such as small planes for spraying crops and harvesters do not even need a human driver, as the GPS devices function with the right combination of auto pilot and GPS technology.

Why A GPS System Is Almost Mandatory For Fishing These Days
GPS will allow you to plot certain points on the GPS so when you go back out fishing you can go to the same spot you went before and catch more and more fish. Where as if you don’t own a GPS you will just have to rely on your instinct when you fish and won’t be able to know where you last fished. When you have a GPS it is easy to go fishing in the same spot where you caught all the good big fish.
There are so many benefits so owning a GPS. One benefit is for fishing so when you go out fishing you can just plot the points and you will have that spot marked on your GPS so when you go back out fishing you can go back to the same spot or just go find another good spot and mark that down on the GPS. A GPS is and can be used for a lot of different things. Like if you are in your boat and you are lost you should have a plot that says home so that you can just activate home and it will send you in that direction.
A GPS is just a good tool to have when you are out in the ocean boating or fishing offshore. If you don’t have a GPS and you are fishing offshore then you don’t need to be fishing offshore because you are bound to get lost when going miles off the coastline. When you are 20 miles off the coastline of Florida you cannot see land therefore you do need a GPS to help you navigate and get back home safely. So if you don’t own a GPS and you own a boat you need to go to Wal-Mart or Sports Authority or some boating store and get yourself a GPS so you don’t become lost in the open sea. This can be very bad if you are out at sea fishing. You won’t know which way is land therefore will cause you to possibly drive the boat in the wrong direction which would never happen if you owned a GPS. Once you have a GPS you will always know where you are and how far out you are where as when you are just using your eyes and brain you have no idea where you are when you are fishing offshore without a GPS.

Sports Watches on the Fly
Technology as of late has improved dramatically, and ones watch can have all kinds of interesting additions you may not be aware of. Waterproof a watch that’s safe from the effects of water are crucial if you are a diver, or swimmer, or you deal with water. And although most sports watches say waterproof, most aren’t that effective, some are only protected in shallow water.
Research carefully before buying, if you are a swimmer, look for something that can deal with depth. Heart rate monitors are actually pretty pricey by themselves, but many sports watches come equipped with them now! And you don’t have to worry about placement, it’s already in the perfect spot to measure your heart rate (your wrist).
People who do the usual cardio could really use something like this, because even when one owns a separate heart rate monitor, it doesn’t get much use as it’s not very convenient. The watch on the other hand, is extremely convenient for heart monitoring. Not to mention, if you have heart issues, that watch can be a very valuable tool for your health. GPS System Is it really possible? Can you really have a GPS on your watch?
Sounds too good to be true right? It’s not, GPS systems have managed to get extremely tiny. And it’s not too extravagant, many people may think a watch with GPS is spy territory, but think about it, a device like that on your watch can save your life when hiking, dealing with trails, or find yourself lost outside the car (assuming it has GPS). Logs and Records Some advanced watches can actually take note and remember your speed, heart rate, location, and more.
That feature is perfect for anyone training, you won’t need to drag someone along anymore to get your distance, times, etc. That’s a big deal, you can spare your partner and get this training done on your own! Many watches can even remember the specific places you’ve ran, routes you were taking, and even past workouts! This means you accomplish more and do it more effectively.
Overall, sports watches have improved dramatically over the years, why not look into what you’re missing, you may be shocked at what you can do these days.

All about Marine GPS Chartplotters
Although boaters who do not frequently travel into deep waters may think that they do not need a marine GPS chartplotter system, they are actually the ones who could potentially benefit the most from such devices. This is because the majority of boating hazards are actually fairly close to land, and knowing where the bad stuff that they need to avoid could be of great help. As a result, just about all of the recreational boaters should have a marine GPS chartplotter, as it would certainly get put to good use.
As with any GPS system, marine GPS chartplotters need to have a compass and charts in its internal memory, as well as other information in case there is a failure in the equipment somewhere. For activities on the water, there are three basic choices: a handheld GPS device, a marine GPS chartplotter and a computer connected to GPS.
Marine GPS chartplotters are far superior to the handheld devices, because they display the GPS information laid over the nautical charts, which make it easy to read. While the marine GPS chartplotters should not totally replace regular paper charts, they can definitely be the primary navigation tools for boaters of all kinds. Another advantage that marine GPS chartplotters have over their handheld counterparts is that the screens are almost always larger and easier to read. Additionally, they have more buttons and an increased number of options.
Usually, marine GPS chartplotters need to be mounted onto a fixed surface. Because marine GPS chartplotters also have external antennas, placement near a window or outside surface is not an issue, which can prevent a lot of mounting problems and issues. Although marine GPS chartplotters have decreased in price over the last several years, they still cost a few hundred dollars to buy. You should expect to pay a bit more for a color screen, but the cost is almost always worth being able to easily discern important features.

Kids Need GPS For Safety
Here is why: a GPS can give you unparalleled peace of mind as well as be the difference between life and death if there very worst were to happen to a member of your family.
The peace of mind available in knowing exactly where your child is is very helpful for you and your family. Imagine being at work and having the urge to make sure your child is safe and exactly where they are supposed to be. In the past you would have to have a cell phone where you could call your child’s school, friend’s parent, or sports coach. But with a GPS tracking watch or other GPS tracking device for kids all you would have to do is power up your computer, log in to your tracking providers website, and find out the exact position of your child in the world.
Another key feature of most kid GPS devices is that they have a feature that allows you to set boundaries for you child. If they ever go outside of those boundaries then you will automatically be notified. This is really great for those who live extremely busy lives at work but still want to keep tabs on their children. If your child breaks the boundaries that you have set up for their safety you will know about it. Different providers provide different options, but you can get an email or text message depending on your preference.
Both of these features allows you to calm any fear or concern that you might have as a parent about your child’s safety.
But what if the worst does end up happening. You are at work, busy bringing home the bacon and all of a sudden you get a notification that you child has gone outside of the boundaries that they know exist for their safety. Your child would never willingly break their boundaries because you have had talks with your child where you let them know the seriousness of doing so. This is for real.
Luckily, they have a GPS on them - tracking their location in real time for you and the police to recover your child in no time at all. Imagine being able to tell the police the exact location where you child is, what direction they are heading, and the speed at which they heading in that direction. Do you think that information would be useful in helping the police track down your child’s kidnapper? Of course!
You child could be back at home with you safe and sound within the hour - all made possible through the power of GPS. If your child is at high risk for abduction or is particularly prone to wondering, then you might want to seriously consider a GPS device for your child. The peace of mind might be worth it alone.
